Chelsea perfectly marries downtown cool with uptown glamour, and is a haven for art and culture enthusiasts, foodies, and New York City's LGBT community. A welcoming community bordering the south edge of midtown manhattan's urban bustle, visitors enjoy the scale of the neighborhood and the beauty of its pre-war buildings and new, highly-modern developments springing off of the High-Line - an abandoned elevated railroad track converted into one of New York City's finest and most creative new parks. Foodies love the Chelsea Market for it's eclectic variety of shops and excellent produce. Chelsea manages to balance a bustling vibe while still maintaining its chic, downtown, creative feel. Once you're burnt out on the endless nightlife options and art galleries, head to the west side highway's quiet riverside park, and take a stroll down the walking/bike path to Chelsea Piers for trapeze, golf, or rock climbing. Chelsea is a virtual hub of cultural activity. You can be a Chelsea Girl or a Chelsea Boy like Andy Warhol, and visit one of the abundant cafes, night clubs, boutiques, and art galleries. Located just two blocks from the N,R,M,F subway lines, travel to any part of Manhattan (downtown to the Village or SOHO or uptown to Times Square and the Empire State Building) is a breeze. The ease of travel makes this area an ideal location for sightseeing, vacation, or someone on a business trip.
